Kind-hearted Socks “Elegance”
Kind-hearted Socks “Elegance”
‘White socks?” she said to her son Lukas, “are you kidding me?” Dorothy had a specific opinion about white socks. She remembered the emergence of them in the 80’s and 90’s in casual and even formal dress. It was a time when a lot of men wore those “tubes’ at any occasion, blind for any aesthetic value or any circumstance. Moreover, bought in bulk in the cheapest corners of stores. As the years passed by, more and more men became aware of their “Faux Pas” and started to realize that there is an occasion for everything, and for white socks that was for sports activities. There was a group of men, however- overall not the most financially strong among them- who didn’t get it, and continued their goof. It was not that they still had an image of the iconic ‘Elvis the pelvis’ who brought them rock & roll with his “Jailhouse Rock” movie in white socks in 1957. Nor the picture of another icon, the young Paul Newman on a skiff in the Florida Keys in a light attire with white socks. With a can of Heineken, wristwatch and sunglasses as his accessories. No, it was a lack of interest in fashion combined with being Scrooginess. They just didn’t care. The response of others became stronger over time in such a way those men became stigmatized. They didn’t only have bad taste, they were kind of a loser, probably poor and not an attractive party for the opposite sex.
And that was a worry for Dorothy. As a single mother since Lukas was born, she wanted the best for him. She felt sorry for him he had to grow up without a father, but after she and his dad broke up, she was done with men. Towards Lukas she became a bit overprotective, she had to confess, but when it comes to clothing, she just had a better taste than her child. She knew what girls would like, she thought. So, she has been dressing her son until well after he seized to appreciate it. But times have changed and Dorothy… just grew older. Lukas managed to escape from her slightly outdated taste and developed a keenness for fashionable clothing himself.
Lukas was aware of Dorothies dislike of tubes; she could have those same facial expressions as when she talked about men. Although not really a sportsman, he did like the “athleisure” ware. So, in his white sneakers he mostly wore tubes instead of ankle socks, and, honestly that was partly to make a point to his mother.
He was confident about his choice, not only because celebrities like Ariana Grande and Victoria’s Secret model Elsa Hosk wore them, Rob Kardashian even had started a sock brand with funny phrases on them to inspire the wearer, such as ‘Keep Calm’ and ‘YOLO’. Lukas had his own set of ‘inspirational’ socks, with concepts like ‘Compassion’, ‘Elegance and ‘Benevolence’ on it. And that made him feel good….
“Keep you head and hands cool, but your heart and feet warm” is an old European expression. Did you know there is some evidence that experiencing physical warmth promotes interpersonal warmth?1 So, it does make sense to keep your feet warm. Keeping your heat warm will even be amplified with one of our ‘Concepts of Elevation’ printed on your socks. With Concepts like ‘Empathy’, ‘Compassion’ or ‘Elegance’ on your socks you share your kindheartedness with the world.
The socks are extra comfortable thanks to their cushioned bottom. he foot is black and our kindhearted words are sublimation printed on the white leg. One can expect a slight distortion of the word (some white might come through) if the fabric is stretched too much.
